Vegan Chocolate Egg Cream Soda (Halloween Swamp Water)

September 5, 2014 by Cara

So let me preface this post by saying that a regular Chocolate Egg Cream Soda does not contain neither egg nor cream. Why it is called egg cream, there are various reasons, however if this soda fountain drink is done correct, it tastes creamy andย fizzy. This vegan version is just as divine and refreshing as it’s original counterpart.

Vegan Chocolate Egg Cream Soda (Halloween Swamp Water)

Er, I mean, it’s spooky, gross, and looks like it came from a swamp, ergo the name Halloween Swamp Water.

It’s like a chocolate milk drink taken to the next degree, full of fizzy carbonation. Oh carbonation I heart you. I don’t drink soda of any kind anymore but I do love beer. Look at me, talking about beer when it’s not even called for. This comes as no surprise though. Where am I?

What I love about this is how decadent and creamyย this vegan Chocolate Egg Cream Sodaย tastes like but looks like but at the same time looks likeย utter swamp water–the perfect Halloween party beverage!

Give it a whirl…and if you do, I’d love to see it on Instagram…

I just read a Serious Eats article about egg creams not that long ago. I had never heard of them before. I’m also a supporter making everything in a chocolate version if possible, even if it does look like swamp water.

Ha, perfect timing then huh? Plus, you support in choco-fying everything is something I can absolutely stand behind.

Cool, it’s even got a live layer of scum on top. I’ve known some pond scum in my life but never thought of setting rats on them. Hmm… and who but you would even have a rat handy? I guess I’ll just have to down a couple of these and plan and scheme and be evil and stuff. mwahaha

    • Cara

      September 8, 2014 at 8:28 am

Not sure if that life-sized pond scum could fit on top of that glass though… ?

I use to go to a Real soda shop in Mexacali the cali. side and I would always get a drink called “a suicide” it is all the soda syrups mixed together to make a horrifically sweet drink and yes they served egg creams, too. Have a great weekend.

    • Cara

      September 8, 2014 at 8:29 am

Hahaha, suicides–yes! We used to do that at fast food restaurants at the soda fountain. Correction. My FRIENDS would do that. I however was more refined with my Coca Cola choice ๐Ÿ™‚ ha
