Using bell peppers cut into small hearts, cream cheese, and cheesey crackers, these Edible Cupid Arrows are a fun snacktivity idea that your kids can create this Valentines Day.
Snacktivity (noun: An activity and snack combined). A snacktivity is when you make something fun and then you eat it. Really, any snack is great but a “snacktivity” is also about the assembly and the presentation. I mean, you can make a snack of bell peppers and cream cheese OR you can make a snacktivity of these Edible Cupid Arrows. Makes sense, right?

Some of my favorite snacktivities begin with cookie cutters. I absolutely love them and I happen to have A LOT of cookie cutters, but really a circle and a heart (and maybe a star) are all you need. The heart shape can be made into so many things: mice, butterflies, bears and flowers and of course, edible Cupid arrows. And while Valentine’s Day is usually a day filled with sweets, this quick savory snack is easy to make and a pause from all the candy.

Punching hearts out from a red pepper (or orange or yellow but never green) can be tricky so here are a few tips for making these Edible Cupid Arrows:
- Wash and dry the pepper.
- Cut the top and bottom off the pepper.
- Use the tip of a knife to cut the inside seed section out.
- Cut a slit in the pepper cylinder, and then carefully slice away the extra ribs inside.
- Place the cookie cutter on the fleshy side of the pepper, and put a towel over the whole cookie cutter then press down.
- Flip the pepper over (you can see the cutter almost coming through) and then put the towel over the whole cookie cutter again, and press down.
- Pull the heart shape out.
- If you start skin side up – it splits and tears the skin. Avoid that.

I usually love Fork and Beans for the alllergen free recipes. The past 2 postings have been of food with dairy and gluten. What is happening?
Hi Sara! You are right, there are now recipes here that are no longer allergen friendly. It’s been this way for over 2 months now. I made an announcement at the end of November that I’ve had 6 great years (and over 600+ recipes all dedicated to allergen friendly) but it’s time to move on and expand the ingredients I use.
