Ocean Themed Snack Ideas

Summer is practically here and for some of you, that means a house full of bored kids for the next couple of months. Instead of listening to them whine that there is nothing to do, make meals fun by sparking your kids’ imaginations with these three Ocean themed snack ideas. All three ideas use Sabra hummus as the spotlight and supported with fresh veggies; a smart and creative way to eat healthy this summer!

Ocean Themed Hummus Snack Ideas

Ingredients

Scale

Fishy Rice Cakes:

  • 4 rice cakes
  • 1/4 c. Sabra hummus
  • multi-colored carrots, sliced and halved (for the scales)
  • 4 mini bell peppers, cut in half (for the fins)
  • 8 slices of carrots (for the eyes and tail)
  • blueberries (for the eyes)

For the Hummus Crab Dip:

  • 1 red bell pepper (for the crab body and claws)
  • 1 tub Sabra hummus
  • 2 googly eyes
  • 2 toothpicks

For the Celery Hummus Boats:

  • 2 celery sticks, cut in half
  • 4 Tbsp. hummus
  • mini bell peppers, cut in half
  • toothpicks

What you’ll need to make these Fishy Rice Cakes:

  • rice cakes
  • Sabra hummus
  • multi-colored carrots, sliced
  • mini bell pepper
  • blueberries

To assemble each rice cake:

  1. Slather 1 Tbsp. of hummus over the rice cake. 
  2. Place the sliced carrot halves in place of the scales.
  3. Create 3 carrot slices: 1 for the fishy lips, 1 for the tail, and the other for the eye. 
  4. Place a blueberry over the carrot eye.
  5. Slice a mini bell pepper and place for the fins.

What you’ll need to make this Hummus Crab Dip:

  • 1 red bell pepper
  • Sabra Hummus
  • 2 googly eyes 
  • 2 toothpicks

How to assemble:

  1. Cut the red bell pepper in half. Use the lower half for the crab head.
  2. Slice the top half of the pepper into fours. Cut claws out of each of them. 
  3. Place hummus into a bowl. Top with the crab head and claws on each side. 
  4. Place the toothpicks into the top of the bell pepper. Glue the googly eyes onto each toothpick.
  5. Serve with fresh veggies.

What you’ll need for these Celery Hummus Boats:

  • celery sticks
  • Sabra Hummus
  • mini bell peppers, cut in half
  • toothpicks

How to assemble:

  1. Slather the hummus into the celery sticks. 
  2. Place a toothpick into each mini bell pepper half for the sailboat mast. 
  3. Stick into the celery so it will stay put.
