Dia de los Muertos Hummus Dip

October 3, 2016 by Cara

I tend to favor a particular Halloween monster during this time of year. Not sure how my subconscious decides but you can see from last year that I favored Frankenstein (evidence proven here with these FrankenToasts and this Bride of Frankenstein Dip ). This year, I’m all about the skulls. So far, I have Dia de los MuerToasts posted and now this Dia de los Muertos Hummus Dip but there are so many more ideas on their way! Gotta pace myself though. We have all month…

This healthy appetizer idea of Dia de los Muertos Hummus Dip is dressed to impress your guests for your next Halloween party!

You can go two ways with this recipe. It can either be an appetizer dip for your next Halloween party or you can make this a DIY edible activity/competition (which makes this a Dia de los Muertos Hummus Dip to DIY for…get it?! <–Halloween puns that never stop). You can set up for each person a selection of veggies, cutting boards, a knife, an oval plate, and a tub of hummus and allow the participants to create their own skull designs. Maybe have a prize waiting for the most creative design?

This was a huge success at our potluck last night. Thank you so much!! Yummy and super fun to create!! The only drawback, the first few through the line wouldn’t touch it because it was “too pretty!” 😂 once they tasted it though it disappeared quickly and many went back for seconds.

Hi! I love this idea and am thinking about making it for a party tomorrow. I am concerned about the hummus not staying in place and getting runny. Any tips how to keep its shape? Thanks for any help! 😊

Made this last night for my friend’s Halloween party – went down very well! It was pretty simple to put together, too. I’m sure I’ll be making it again 🙂 Happy Día de los Muertos!
