Fork and Beans
Making allergen friendly food fun for the family
Hi mates, how is everything, and what you wish for to say about this post, in my view its actually remarkable for me.
Very thankful for your blog. I just recently bought your book decadent gluten-free vegan baking. I love it! My fiancé has 98 allergies and this has been a huge help in accommodating his health issues, while still making great tasting food. You’ve made allergy free cooking so fun! Thanks!
I just think your website is amazing. My six month old is free from dairy, soya, eggs, wheat, oats, rice flour, gluten, mango, apricots and bananna- I’ve really struggled until now. I just want to say thank you. You’re fantastic!
So this is just about the BEST thing I could ever read. Thank you for taking the time to write this–so happy to helping you and your family out. Much love! xo
Fantastic Blog. I will be sure to bookmark it.
Everything looks delicious! It would be really nice if you could add a recipe category for low/no sugar.
I love this website!!! Can’t wait to get your book! You are a culinary genius
WOW, Karin, thank you so much for that! Hope I can live up to genius 🙂 oxoxoxo!!!
Very happy for you on all your success!! I love and receive this magazine too and now I can show you off : ) Your fudge, yummy, list in your christmas cookie section – love it!!
Wondering where the recipe for Crispy Cauliflower is? Sounds good but I don’t see a way to search your recipe Db.
When I was looking today it was on the right side as a popular right now recipe, however I first found it by searching google and typing in “fork and beans crispy orange cauliflower” which led me to her post about it, where the recipe is actually on another blog as a guest post! Haha sorry this is a novel, I will just post the link, that seems easier… http://www.veganricha.com/2013/04/caras-crispy-orange-cauliflower-vegan.html
Cara, I am not a baker either 🙂 but I sure am use to making some of the entrees! I sent a dear veggie friend of mine your site! Can’t wait to hear what she says! She’s going to be so excited! and I have another friend (neighbor) that went thru breast cancer and is trying to make some lifestyle changes, can’t wait till she gets home and I can hook her up with your site, she’ll be sooooo happy! Thank you so much from all of us.
Cara, I agree with Isabel, and am thinking about making some lifestyle changes! She is right you are an inspiration and your site is fabulous! Thanks, Cindy
Cara, Love your site, so many great ideas. Can’d wait to try some. Hope your trip is great.
So good to find your blog! I have been having a difficult time with transitioning into gluten free and then finding dairy is a no no as well, I don’t eat meat anyways so that didn’t bother me. Just am anxious to try some of your recipes thanks so much and God bless!
I have just discovered your blog and seriously I’m feeling hopeful for the first time. Two days ago I discovered my 9 yr old daughter is severely allergic to gluten, dairy, eggs and a host of other things. I have been feeling completely overwhelmed and confused about where to start. And wondering what’s left to feed her?? But now I can’t wait to get started on your delicious recipes! There are so many new ingredients that I will need to use now so I was wondering, would you have a ‘beginners’ shopping list of essential pantry items on your site? Thank you for all you are doing, it’s so much more than a cooking blog to those of us who are starting out on this journey – it’s a life-line. God bless.
This comment gave me misty eyes. I TOTALLY remember being where you are at when I first was diagnosed with a new diet. It can make you feel very alone and helpless and it’s the main reason I started this blog. So it makes me so happy that it is providing a lifeline for those who really need it. Let me know if you ever need anything, please! I am just an email away and will do my best to help make this an easier process for you and your family 🙂 Much love, Cara
Could you make an icecream recipe? Preferably one that doesn’t need an icecream maker machine 🙂
I have a few recipes actually that are right up your alley. Check this out and enjoy: http://forkandbeans.wordpress.com/ice-cream/?preview=true&preview_id=5294&preview_nonce=c0d821594b
Oh my gosh you replied soo fast! And I did not, I’m sorry! I have no idea where to buy flaxseed. What stores do you usually go to? And thanks for the info, it is helping a lot!
hehe. I’m quick like that 🙂 You can find flaxseed at WholeFoods, Trader Joe’s (if one is near you), or even the regular ol’ grocery store. Most places are extending their natural foods selection. If you can only find flaxseed in whole form and not meal form, you can always just ground it at home with a spice or coffee grinder. Hopefully that helps! Let me know, Kassy (fingers crossed for you…)
Hi Cara! I stumbled upon your blog and I totally find you so inspiring. I am slowly transitioning into veganism and I am having trouble finding vegan ingredients mainly for baking. Do you have any suggestions to shop?
Hi Kassy, thank you so much for such a sweet comment!! Glad you found your way over here…
What exactly are you having difficulties finding? Just off the top of my head, I would say some essentials for vegan baking are the following: Nut or soy milk, Silken Tofu, apple cider vinegar, baking soda, flaxseed meal to name a few. I’m thinking these should be fairly easy to find anywhere these days. Let me know if you were looking for something specific!
If you check out my Guide to Vegan/GF baking, I give some tips for substituting eggs, dairy, etc for vegan baking. Hope this helps! Ask away if you need to 🙂 xo
I’m just starting to change my diet and lifestyle, and you are such an inspiration and help! Thank you!
Hi Isabel! So happy to hear that you are making changes to better yourself–and glad that you found yourself over here! You are so sweet with those words, thank you. If you need anything, please do not hesitate to ask! xo, Cara
You site is so awesome. Please do tell. How did you get your site this way with the categories all on one page (above), and how did you get a Facebook LIKE button embedded on this site. Please help! 🙂 You can check out my site. I have 701 subscribers altogether but I desire to jazz up my site a little to increase readership. Your guidance would be magnificent. Thanks, Res
I created the recipe page myself with blood, sweat and tears 🙂 You can add FB, just go to widgets, I believe and drag the FB like button over… xo Good luck!
Lovely Cara. So easy to see what’s what. Thank you for going to this effort and time for all of us. 🙂
It all comes out of the love I have for you 🙂 xo
